Walnut Grove floors are the original carpet and laminate, some of it already replaced once. The laundry closet is where the subfloor goes soft.

The suite downstairs has its own floor. A hose upstairs can wet the closet plywood and only stain the suite ceiling, or it can wet both.

Closet subfloors

We pull the closet vinyl and the particle board under the washer. That sheet is usually the rotten one. The hallway laminate may only need a meter.

If the window well or a ceiling drip soaked the suite pad, the pad comes out. The upstairs laminate is a separate reading.

Boards that were swollen in a past leak and peaked again do not get a third chance. They come up. The subfloor under them is the real question.

Particle board out. Plywood repaired if it has let go. Washer held until the sheet is sound.

Pad out downstairs. Upstairs floor left if it reads dry.

That is the Walnut Grove soft spot.

It is not automatically wet.
